Renganaden Padayachy's Request to Travel to India Denied

Renganaden Padayachy's request for permission to travel to India has been denied. He intended to attend a conference scheduled for December 15 and 16, 2025, in India. On Thursday, December 11, 2025, the Port Louis court once again rejected the motion filed by the former Minister of Finance. The court determined that the reasons presented were not justified and did not cause him any harm.

It’s worth noting that Renganaden Padayachy, 54, has been arrested twice in connection with an investigation by the Anti Money Laundering Unit of the police regarding an alleged embezzlement of Rs 45 million, to the detriment of the Mauritius Investment Corporation (MIC), in favor of Menlo Park Ltd. This offense was reportedly committed in August 2024, according to the FCC. Furthermore, he is also under investigation by the Financial Crimes Commission for an alleged embezzlement of Rs 300 million, detrimental to the MIC and benefiting Apavou Hotels Ltd, which allegedly occurred in May 2024.
