Ashim Joomun, a Grade 5 Student Shines at PSAC and Dreams of Becoming a Pilot

Ashim Joomun, a fifth grader, has excelled in the Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC) 2025, with results announced this Thursday. A 10-year-old student at Hampstead Junior School in Coromandel, he achieved an aggregate score of 4 units, paving his way to start secondary school at the SSS of Ébène next year.

His father, Shakeel Joomun, expresses pride in Ashim, describing him as a disciplined child who loves reading, particularly the works of Enid Blyton. "He does use his phone, but he knows when to set it aside without me having to intervene," Shakeel shares.

A deeply religious child, Ashim wakes up daily at 4:30 AM and never misses the morning prayer at the local mosque. He has made the pilgrimage to Mecca (Umrah) twice already, first at the age of 8 and again in February this year. He hopes to go back a third time to express his gratitude. Responsible for his 4-year-old sister, Ashim acknowledges, "I am very thankful to my parents for their efforts in supporting my education." His dream is to become a pilot.
