Rivière-du-Rempart: A Repeat Offender Caught During a Chase

Rivière-du-Rempart: A repeat offender was apprehended following a police chase. The Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit of the North targeted a criminal who had been active in the northern region. After several theft incidents were reported at the Rivière-du-Rempart police station, investigators initiated an intelligence-gathering operation that led them to a 21-year-old man named Harsh B, also known as Bosco. Known to the police and working as an electrician, he was arrested in a car during the chase, which ended when police intercepted the vehicle in the village of L’Espérance-Trébuchet. Upon searching Harsh B, foreign currency, including Thai baht and Indian rupees, was discovered. In the trunk of the Hyundai vehicle, police also found drills, a grinder, and an electric screwdriver.

He was taken to the CID headquarters in Piton, where he was confronted with several theft cases, including one that occurred between late November and early December at a house in Rivière-du-Rempart. A 23-year-old woman living in that house reported the theft of a diamond-encrusted gold ring, two gold chains with stone-embedded pendants, a gold chain, and four pairs of gold earrings, among other items. These jewelry pieces were kept in her bedroom, with a total estimated value of Rs 215,000.

During a search of Bosco's car, a pair of gold earrings was also found. He will be questioned regarding another theft case involving electrical cables stolen from a construction site in Rivière-du-Rempart. The criminal was already subject to an arrest warrant issued by the North District Court for an unpaid fine and has been placed in police custody.
