In recognition of International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2025, themed "Corruption, No Thanks", the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) has released its first annual report highlighting the achievements in combating financial crime over the past year.
The FCC emphasizes collaboration with national and international partners, enhancing coordination among law enforcement, judicial authorities, and regulators. The commission continues its mission to investigate financial crimes, dismantle illicit networks, and target illegal financial circuits. The FCC’s Education and Prevention team remains active in its awareness campaigns. Significant investigations by the commission are noted, including the seizure of Rs 7.3 billion. The Reward Money case reveals acts of corruption and misappropriation of public funds, involving several high-ranking police officials, including a former police commissioner. Other cases mentioned include Toxic Loans at SBM, contracts with Air Mauritius, the State Trading Corporation, the National Transport Company, and the allocation of public contracts, among others.

Digitized and Secured Operations

Maubank
The FCC returned Rs 15 million to Maubank following a fraud investigation.

The Legal Division supports all investigations, ensuring every action is legally sound.
Education and Prevention
32 recommendations have been made to enhance governance and integrity in public projects. The FCC has trained over 5,000 individuals, including municipal elected officials, civil service heads, and state agents, to promote ethics and transparency.
International Collaboration
In 2025, the FCC signed agreements with the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate in India. They strengthened regional relations with Senegal and collaborated with international agencies such as the FBI, UNODC, OECD, and ICAR.
Human Resources
71 new staff members were recruited in 2025 to bolster the commission's departments. The blend of experienced and young personnel contributes to effectiveness, with initiatives taken to improve infrastructure and work quality.
