Moustass Leaks: ACP Lilram Deal Granted Bail
Bail has been granted to ACP Lilram Deal by the Port Louis court this afternoon. He faces a provisional charge under the Official Secrets Act as part of the investigation into phone tapping related to the Moustass Leaks.
Lilram Deal is required to provide two bail securities of one million rupees each via cheque and sign a debt acknowledgment of five million rupees to secure his release on bail.
He was arrested last Tuesday following questioning by the Central CID.
The CCID accuses Lilram Deal of refusing to provide the access codes for a Prestsol listening device, preventing the police from accessing the data. Investigators suspect he possesses these codes. During his hearing, he provided some codes to the CCID but claimed he could not recall others. This explanation did not convince the investigators.
