Weather: Heavy Rain Warning in Effect in Mauritius Until 10 AM This Saturday

A heavy rain warning is in effect in Mauritius until 10 AM this Saturday. According to the Vacoas meteorological station, atmospheric conditions remain humid and unstable in our region, promoting the formation of active clouds.

This morning, the weather is cloudy, with moderate to locally heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly over the southern half of the island. Pockets of fog are also expected, reducing visibility in some areas.

Later, passing showers are anticipated mainly in the east, south, and central plateau, which could be temporarily moderate.

Maximum temperatures will range between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius in the highlands and between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius in coastal areas. Minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius on the coast.

The wind will blow from the southeast at about 20 km/h, gradually strengthening throughout the day, with gusts potentially reaching 50 km/h.

The sea will be rough beyond the reefs, with swells from the southwest around 3 meters. Outings at sea, as well as in the lagoons of the west and south, are strongly discouraged.

Public Advice:

Stay sheltered and avoid open spaces, hiking, outings at sea, and do not seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms.

Avoid areas prone to water accumulation.

Exercise great caution on the roads due to reduced visibility.
