Why Do We Fund Our Politicians?

The question isn't "who funds our politicians?" The real question, the only one that matters, is: why do we fund our politicians? What do we expect in return from them? What services, what privileges, what favors? Because in this country, no one funds out of charity. We fund to gain something in return.
