Christmas Solidarity: MT Employees Donate Over 1000 Gifts Under Radio Plus' Christmas Tree

Christmas spirit was alive on Friday, December 12, at the Radio Plus premises. Responding generously to the station's appeal, employees of Mauritius Telecom gathered to place over a thousand gifts under the solidarity tree. These gifts will be distributed to children from vulnerable families on December 23 and 24, bringing joy and comfort to those in need during this festive season.

Staying true to its annual tradition of solidarity, Radio Plus continues its efforts to spread joy to children during the Christmas holidays, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. A Christmas tree was set up within the radio premises on Labourdonnais Street, inviting the public to drop off gifts that will be distributed to children from struggling families on December 23 and 24.

In response to this call, employees of Mauritius Telecom (MT) organized an internal collection. On Friday, December 12, they arrived at Radio Plus, arms full, to deliver no less than 1,000 gifts under the tree.

The MT delegation was accompanied by CEO Veemal Gungadin. “What makes this action special is that these gifts come directly from our employees. Internally, we collected over 2,000 gifts, and we have already begun distributing them to hospitalized children since last week. We share the same solidarity goal as Radio Plus. That’s why we came to deliver a thousand gifts for the children. One of our core values is: ‘We care for our people, for our children.’ We are very pleased with this collaboration and commend Radio Plus for this initiative,” emphasized Veemal Gungadin.

The solidarity movement began earlier in the day when the initiative from Mauritius Telecom employees was preceded by a similarly touching gesture: around thirty children from the TejAngel’s Holiday Club also came to Radio Plus to drop off gifts, all in a festive and joyful atmosphere. The children also took the opportunity to explore the Radio Plus premises and learn about how a station operates.
