Allegations by Stéphanie Anquetil in the National Assembly: Minister Ariane Navarre-Marie Announces Internal Investigation
Stéphanie Anquetil made serious allegations against Minister Ariane Navarre-Marie during the parliamentary session on December 9. In a statement on December 12, the Minister for Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Ariane Navarre-Marie, responded firmly, saying, "I await the promised evidence. Once it is submitted, disciplinary or legal actions will be initiated."
Ariane Navarre-Marie emphasized the challenging context she inherited upon her arrival in October 2024, describing a "confusing" situation across various centers catering to vulnerable children. She highlighted significant and unacceptable failures: stolen or unsuitable meals, caretakers abusing their positions, and intimidation through alleged surveillance cameras.
At the center of the controversy is the Florida Child Day Care Centre, noted for serious shortcomings. The center's manager has been temporarily replaced, and urgent training sessions were held from October 24 to November 3, followed by practical immersion at Eveil Wi Nu Kapav. The Minister reminded that, according to the Child Day Care Centre Regulations 2022, "no specific qualifications are required for managers, while caregivers need training or three years of experience."
Ariane Navarre-Marie pointed out the establishment of a new NCC board and a committee that includes child representatives, assuring, "We will leave nothing to chance to protect those entrusted to us. My ministry will remain open to anyone who wants to act positively and concretely for the welfare of children."
When contacted for a response, Stéphanie Anquetil maintained her stance: "I will continue my work. I have already submitted a letter to the Speaker."
