Russia: Two Killed in Drone Attack on Residential Building
Two people were killed on Saturday following a Ukrainian drone attack on a residential building in Saratov, central Russia, local authorities reported.
Several apartments were also damaged, according to the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, who shared the information on Telegram.
Saratov is located along the Volga River, opposite the city of Engels, which hosts a significant Russian military base.
Kiev has previously targeted this area with drones, but Russia shoots down a large number of them, and authorities rarely report casualties.
Ukraine has been subjected to near-daily Russian bombardments, which have impacted its entire territory since the onset of the large-scale Russian assault in February 2022.
On the other hand, Kiev regularly conducts drone strikes in Russia, claiming to primarily target military and energy infrastructure.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has positioned himself as a mediator in the Ukrainian conflict since returning to the White House in January, expressed his frustration on Thursday regarding the lack of progress in negotiations to end the conflict.
