Title: Seizure of 13.4 kg of Cannabis in La Gaulette: Adsu Suspects 'La Réunion Connection'

Content: What is the origin of the 13.4 kg of cannabis found at the home of Nihil Dardenne, a 21-year-old server, in La Gaulette? Several bags containing cannabis were discovered in his house on Remy Ollier Alley in La Gaulette at around 3 PM on Wednesday, December 10, by the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit from the south. Investigators are looking to identify those behind the cannabis distribution network originating from this coastal village in southwestern Mauritius.

The anti-drug unit is also trying to determine the source of this significant drug shipment. Initial analysis of the cannabis suggests it is zamal (a variety of cannabis from Réunion). Nihil Dardenne is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.

Storage

Investigators from the Adsu in Rose-Belle, led by Assistant Superintendent Sooknah, Chief Inspector Appasamy, and Inspector Baboorally, are focusing their investigation on Nihil Dardenne's associates, suspecting a highly organized maritime network.

At this stage, police believe Nihil Dardenne was responsible for hiding this shipment of zamal at his home. Undercover agents from the Adsu infiltrated networks and learned that there was cannabis in the house where this young man lives in La Gaulette.

According to estimates from the anti-drug unit, this cannabis shipment could have generated Rs 33.5 million upon retail sale.

Réunion-Mauritius Route

Zamal, Réunion cannabis that is lucrative in the Mauritian drug market, continues to circulate along the Réunion-Mauritius route. Two Mauritians were arrested by police in Réunion on Sunday, November 30, with 48 kg of cannabis prepared for export to Mauritius found in their car. The two Mauritians are currently in custody in Réunion.
