Chagos Agreement: Mauritius Challenges Concerns of the UN Committee

During the cabinet meeting on Friday, the Cabinet acknowledged a decision by the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), dated December 2, 2025, and released on December 8. In this document, CERD expresses concerns regarding the bilateral agreement made between the United Kingdom and Mauritius concerning the Chagos archipelago, stating that it does not fully ensure the rights of the Chagossian people to adequate reparations.
