Night Market in Port-Louis: A Seasonal Vendor Claims He Was Violently Assaulted
The night market on Desforges Street in Port-Louis has stirred up strong emotions. A 52-year-old seasonal vendor was violently confronted. According to his complaint filed with the police, he had been officially assigned a spot by the Port-Louis municipality. However, upon his arrival, he found that the number of his stall had been covered with black paint.
As he was setting up his merchandise, three men intervened to claim the spot. The situation quickly escalated: his table was overturned, and he was violently struck on the head. Injured, the vendor had to receive treatment at the hospital.
