Salary Compensation of Rs 635: 'Insufficient,' According to Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun

"The salary compensation of Rs 635 set for 2026 is insufficient to cope with the rising cost of living," stated Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun on Monday, December 15, during a press conference of the MSM. The former Minister of Education believes that the government should have listened more to the unions.

According to her, the population is expressing deep dissatisfaction.

Regarding the announced changes in the educational system, Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun is cautious. She questions the new model's ability to genuinely promote growth. For her, UNESCO and several educators agree on one essential point: a stable educational system remains the foundation for success.
