PRB: No Retroactive Payments, Announces Navin Ramgoolam
A statement from the Cabinet might be issued this Friday to provide details on the publication of the upcoming Pay Research Bureau (PRB) report. However, one thing is certain: there will be no retroactive payments. This was announced by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam on Tuesday while he was a guest on Nawaz Noorbux's show, "Au Cœur de l’Info."
According to the head of government, retroactive payments are "impossible" in the current economic context. "Do you want us to do like in Greece, where public sector salaries were reduced by thirty percent (30%)? I do not want to do that. If I do not have the capacity to pay, how can I do it?" he stated.
Navin Ramgoolam asserts that he will not jeopardize the country. "Neither Paul Bérenger nor I were elected to gain popularity," he said, emphasizing that the government's priority remains the recovery of the economy.
