My Pop-Up Store Receives the Made in Moris Label in the Service Industry Category

Made in Moris has announced the certification of My Pop-Up Store, a service dedicated to supporting brands and visual merchandising, in the Service Industry category. This official recognition honors over thirteen years of commitment to promoting local artisans and creators, as well as the significant role My Pop-Up Store plays in the development and professionalization of the Mauritian creative economy.

Founded in 2012 as a collective pop-up shop project, My Pop-Up Store has gradually evolved into a true ecosystem, now comprising pop-up shops, permanent stores, and sales points integrated within the Attitude hotel group. Through a stringent selection of brands, support for professional development, and a constant focus on quality, authenticity, and product traceability, My Pop-Up Store has established itself as a benchmark for retail dedicated to local brands. "Receiving the Made in Moris label is a strong recognition of our commitment over more than thirteen years alongside Mauritian artisans and creators. It reinforces our role as a platform that structures, supports, and sustainably promotes local creation," states Elizabeth de Marcy Chelin-Chabert, founder and director of My Pop-Up Store. "In September 2012, we were ten creators gathered for three days around this somewhat crazy project. Since then, the adventure has taken on a whole new dimension. The concept has evolved over the years, driven by the enthusiasm of the public and creators. Today, My Pop-Up Store boasts over 50 editions of pop-up shops, as well as permanent stores. Most importantly, we represent 118 brands and creators combined."

For the Made in Moris label, this certification holds strategic importance. It marks the recognition of a platform that plays a key role in the value chain of Made in Moris, linking creation, marketing, and customer experience. By integrating a committed network of shops aligned with the label's requirements, Made in Moris emphasizes that the way local creations are presented, valued, and made accessible to the public is a key lever for their visibility and competitiveness.

The labeling process notably highlighted the rigor of the selection criteria for brands at My Pop-Up Store, the care taken in product traceability, the coherence between the in-store experience and the values upheld by the label, as well as a management model focused on quality and authenticity. All of these elements reflect a shared desire to promote more responsible and rewarding consumption for Mauritian creators. Shirin Gunny, CEO of the Association of Mauritian Manufacturers and Made in Moris, emphasizes: "The certification of My Pop-Up Store recognizes an actor who, for over a decade, has actively contributed to structuring a market for Mauritian creation and raising the standards of local retail. By integrating My Pop-Up Store, the Made in Moris label asserts that local and responsible retail is fully part of the value chain, just like production and know-how."

For My Pop-Up Store, this official recognition reinforces its positioning and opens new perspectives. It strengthens its legitimacy as a structuring player in creative retail and supports its development ambitions, particularly around projects dedicated to Made in Moris and better integration of local creation into the tourism experience. "The Made in Moris label opens up new opportunities for us. We would like to open a 100% Made in Moris pop-up store. Thanks to this recognition, we also wish to engage more with the government and ministries to demonstrate that local retail plays a key role in the tourism experience. An authentic shopping experience is inseparable from a successful tourist stay, and there is still much to be done in this area in Mauritius," clarifies the founder of My Pop-Up Store.

Through this labeling, My Pop-Up Store reaffirms its mission: to create sustainable bridges between artisans, the market, and the public, while contributing to the promotion of Mauritian know-how. "We welcome My Pop-Up Store to the large family of Made in Moris. Our two approaches naturally converge. Together, we create a virtuous continuum: on one side, a commitment to trust and excellence, and on the other, a platform for showcasing and market access. This complementarity reinforces the legitimacy of an entire sector. Our collaboration exemplifies SDG 17 Partnerships for Goals, which is the compass for our actions," concludes Shirin Gunny, CEO of AMM and Made in Moris.
