Kolos Cement Ltd Mobilizes for Health and Safety at Bagatelle Mall

Kolos Cement Ltd held a health and safety awareness event on Saturday, December 13, at Bagatelle Mall from 9 AM to 2 PM, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Blood Donors Association, and the Road Traffic Branch. This initiative, which was open to the general public, reflects Kolos Cement Ltd's commitment as a responsible company concerned about the well-being and safety of the community, especially during this festive season.

"Kolos Cement Ltd is very pleased with this initiative and intends to continue such actions in the future, always with a focus on awareness and prevention. Safety is a value that we hold dear, and I would even say it is the most important for us. Organizing this event during the festive season aimed to remind everyone how essential it is to be mindful of health and safety, particularly on the road, at a time of year when risks are heightened. For Kolos Cement Ltd, it is fundamental to implement such initiatives for the community. We are very satisfied with this first experience and plan to continue down this path," shared Vishen Gopalla, CEO of Kolos Cement Ltd.

Throughout the morning, visitors were able to receive free medical check-ups conducted by professionals and doctors from the Ministry of Health. These examinations included weight checks, diabetes and hypertension screenings, as well as other basic assessments, allowing everyone to evaluate their health status in an accessible and friendly environment. The interest in these services reflects the public's support for such preventive initiatives.

At the same time, the Blood Donors Association was present with its blood donation caravan, offering volunteers the chance to take a concrete step to save lives. Pints of blood were collected during the event, enhancing the social impact of this mobilization. Road safety also played a central role on this day.

In collaboration with the Road Traffic Branch, the public had the opportunity to discover and experience a rollover car, which was restored in partnership with Kolos Cement Ltd. This immersive experience helps participants better understand the risks involved in a road accident and emphasizes the importance of wearing seatbelts, a crucial message during the busy festive season. Police teams were also present to engage with the public and provide road safety advice.

"Through this event, Kolos Cement Ltd wishes to emphasize the importance of health and safety, especially during this end-of-year period. Thanks to the commitment of our key partners and their mobilization, we were able to engage with the public and community members, bringing their expertise and support to offer a comprehensive approach that is educational, preventive, and practical. The rollover car experience left a strong impression. By allowing participants to safely simulate an accident, this activity reinforced the message about seatbelt use and responsible behaviors on the road, which is crucial during the festive season. This initiative reflects our desire to create concrete actions that are accessible to all, encouraging everyone to take care of their health and adopt more responsible behaviors, especially during the festive period," said Rishta Ramanah – Rajiah, QHSE & Sustainability Manager of Kolos Cement Ltd.

Through this action, Kolos Cement Ltd reaffirms that health and safety must be essential pillars of daily life and demonstrates, once again, its concrete commitment to the Mauritian population.
