Azad Farook Gaffar Succumbs to His Injuries
Azad Farook Gaffar, aged 61, has died from severe injuries sustained in a serious accident on December 9 in Mahébourg. He was struck while walking on the sidewalk and succumbed to his injuries on December 16.
This tragic road accident claimed the life of Azad Farook Gaffar, a retiree from Résidences La Chaux in Mahébourg, on December 9. The retiree was walking on the sidewalk along the main road when a car hit him. He suffered serious injuries and took his last breath on Tuesday, December 16.
Gaffar was walking beside his bicycle when he was struck by a car, which propelled him several meters away. He was gravely injured and was placed under observation in the intensive care unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle.
Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated. He passed away on Tuesday, December 16. An autopsy attributed his death to complications arising from a neck fracture. His body was subsequently handed over to his family for burial.
At the deceased's home, there is shock and grief. A relative explained that he was on the sidewalk when the tragedy struck. "He was walking on the sidewalk, pushing his bicycle beside him when this fast-moving car came straight at him. He was thrown onto the windshield," the relative recounted. The impact was severe.
Azad Gaffar's sister is heartbroken. "On that day, I was informed that my brother was involved in a road accident. I rushed to the scene immediately. The police and emergency medical services had not yet arrived. My brother was bleeding heavily. He was later taken to the hospital," she said. From Mahébourg Hospital, he was transferred to Rose-Belle Hospital for specialized care. "We were able to see my brother for a moment, then the doctor asked us to leave the room because he had gone into cardiac arrest. They managed to revive him," she continued. However, he never regained consciousness. On Tuesday, his family learned that he had passed away. "He had multiple fractures. That car hit him violently. The law needs to be stricter," she stated.
