Ecuador: An International Football Player Shot Dead

Violence has tragically struck Ecuador once again, and this time it is the Barcelona SC football club mourning one of its players. Ecuadorian international Mario Pineida was shot dead on Wednesday in the port city of Guayaquil.

The 33-year-old defender had represented the Ecuador national team in the qualifying rounds for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He was crowned champion of Ecuador in 2016 with Barcelona.
