Terre-Rouge: A Thief Beaten by the Public and Handed Over to the Police
In Terre-Rouge, a 30-year-old man was caught and attacked by local residents after committing two break-ins on Wednesday, December 17. The residents then handed him over to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Terre-Rouge. During his interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crimes.
The police received two complaints regarding daytime burglaries in the Terre-Rouge area. On December 16, Rs 40,000, gold jewelry, and various valuable items were stolen from an engineer's home. Surveillance footage captured an individual entering the residence.
The second burglary occurred the same day between noon and 1:30 PM at a residence in Le Hochet, where the suspect took several valuable items, including six bottles of whiskey, six headphones, and Rs 35,000.
Stolen gold jewelry included chains, rings, a bracelet, and a pair of earrings.
A repeat offender residing in Plaine-des-Papayes was identified. However, before the police could intervene, he was recognized by local residents and was violently attacked before being handed over to the authorities.
The suspect was taken to the police station, where he was extensively interrogated by investigators. He admitted his involvement in both break-ins and was transported to the Northern Hospital for observation.
