Work and Holiday Program - Mauritians in Germany and Germans in Mauritius: the WHP Takes Effect

The Council of Ministers approved on Friday the promulgation of the 2025 Regulations amending exemptions to employment restrictions for non-citizens. This decision will allow the issuance of exemption certificates to German nationals coming to Mauritius under the Work and Holiday Program.

Under this program, young Mauritians and Germans aged 18 to 31 will be able to travel to Germany and Mauritius respectively for holidays while engaging in secondary professional activities. The aim is to supplement their travel funds and gain professional experience.

The Work and Holiday Program thus represents an opportunity for Mauritian and German youth to broaden their knowledge, open their horizons, and enhance their employment prospects abroad.
