Kunal Naik Appointed New Chairman of NADC: "Tangible Results Will Be Visible from January"
Kunal Naik, the new Chairman of the National Agency for Drugs Control (NADC), held his first working session on Saturday, December 20, alongside CEO Dr. Faizal Sulliman. The objective was to identify the obstacles hindering the agency's development and to outline its future direction.
"This assessment was a real eye-opener. Some advancements, such as staff recruitment, are already underway. Tangible results will be visible starting in January," stated Kunal Naik, emphasizing that much of the progress is due to the efforts of Dr. Faizal Sulliman and his predecessor.
He also announced that the NADC is working on finalizing the National Drug Control Masterplan 2025–2029 in collaboration with relevant ministries and institutional partners. This document, which will be submitted to the National Drug Control Commission, will serve as a guiding plan, defining national directions, law enforcement strategies, and issues related to HIV.
This initial session marks the beginning of a new chapter for the NADC, with a clear vision and concrete goals for the coming years.
It should be noted that Kunal Naik, an addiction specialist, was appointed as part-time Chairperson of the NADC. The decision was approved during the Council of Ministers meeting held yesterday, Friday, December 19. He succeeds Sam Lauthan, who resigned from his position on Monday, December 15.
