Presumed Kidnapping: Investigation into El Capo Hindered by Plaintiff's Unavailability

El Capo, whose real name is Brandon Rodrigues Sena, has been accused of forcing a man named Benito into the trunk of a car before assaulting him. However, Benito is currently unavailable, which is slowing down the investigation being conducted by the CID detectives from Piton, who are trying to resolve this alleged kidnapping and assault case that occurred on October 25, involving the Guyanese national.

The plaintiff, a 32-year-old resident of Baie-du-Tombeau, accused six masked men of kidnapping. In a complaint filed at the Piton police station on October 29, he claimed to have recognized El Capo among his attackers: "They covered my face with a mask, put me in the trunk of a car, and took me to a forest where I had to apologize. El Capo shot me in the head and tried to cut off my right hand with a machete."

The thirty-something also recounted that he was released around 4 a.m. on October 26. Before the arrest of the alleged Guyanese drug trafficker, Benito had publicly received threats from El Capo in one of his online videos: "Benito, listen to me carefully, gather all the drugs you have, marijuana, heroin, all the money you have. When it's ready, let me know, and I'll come get it."

El Capo, a Guyanese national, has been the subject of an Interpol Red Notice from France since November 4 for drug offenses, money laundering, and conspiracy to engage in criminal activities. He was arrested on October 29 after cocaine and offensive weapons were seized from a vehicle in the village of Argy, Flacq.

He is currently incarcerated at La Bastille prison and is facing two provisional charges: "Drug Dealing to wit: Possession of cocaine for the purpose of distribution" and "Conspiracy to commit sequestration."

To progress the investigation regarding the charge of "Conspiracy to commit Sequestration," the Piton criminal police have been trying to obtain cooperation from Benito, who has presented himself as a victim of El Capo's aggression. However, since then, this resident of Baie-du-Tombeau has been unavailable for police procedures.

Only recently, after numerous attempts, the detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division in Piton, led by Sergeant Daby, managed to reach Benito by phone. He was then invited to report to the Piton police station and the criminal police headquarters for the investigation. However, to date, he has not shown up.

Benito's statements are considered crucial, as he needs to indicate to investigators the house where he allegedly was taken and the vehicle in which he was forcibly transported. An identification exercise of El Capo by him is necessary to advance this investigation. However, so far, due to the plaintiff's non-cooperation, these exercises could not be conducted, which weakens the kidnapping accusation he made against the Guyanese man.

Contradictions Noted

Meanwhile, furthering their investigations, the CID detectives from Piton have already reviewed footage from the Safe City cameras from the night of October 25 to 26, during which the police noted several contradictory elements. While Benito claims to have been taken to a forested area, the CCTV images show El Capo in a car leaving the North of the island heading towards the highlands of Plaines Wilhems on the day of the alleged attack. The police are waiting for the cooperation of the supposed victim to clarify these gray areas.

Additionally, around 4 a.m. the following day, October 26, Benito is captured on camera retrieving his car at a gas station in the North before leaving the village of L’Espérance-Trébuchet. Moreover, the CID detectives from the Northern Division will soon need to visit the prison to confront El Capo with the kidnapping allegations made by Benito. The police investigation is ongoing, and other associates of El Capo will also need to be interviewed.
