Kugan Parapen: "I had nothing personal against Sam Lauthan"
Kugan Parapen stated, "I had nothing personal against Sam Lauthan," following the appointment of Kunal Naik as part-time chairperson of the National Agency for Drugs Control (NADC). According to the Junior Minister of Social Security, Sam Lauthan's proposals were based on methods that had already been implemented in recent years, which did not yield significant results in the fight against drugs. The Junior Minister emphasizes that it is time to adopt a different approach. For him, the priority remains the eradication of synthetic drugs, which have devastating effects on an increasing number of young people in Mauritius. It is worth noting that addiction specialist Kunal Naik has been appointed as the part-time Chairperson of the NADC. This decision was approved during the Council of Ministers meeting held yesterday, Friday, December 19. He succeeds Sam Lauthan, who resigned from his position on Monday, December 15.
