Budget Measure: Free Internet: Implementation Confirmed, Beneficiaries Connected from January

The initiative for free internet connectivity aimed at families registered with the Social Register of Mauritius (SRM) is entering its final preparation phase. Planned in the National Budget 2025-26, this scheme intends to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to online services, particularly for the educational, administrative, and social needs of the most vulnerable households.

An initial budget of Rs 84 million has been allocated to support this initiative.
