27 Years at the Helm of the Electoral Commission: Irfan Rahman Bids Farewell in January
Electoral Commissioner Irfan Rahman will retire in January 2026, after serving 27 years at the head of the commission. He has already informed the President of the Republic, Dharam Gokhool, as well as the Local Government Service Commission.
Irfan Rahman was appointed Electoral Commissioner in 1998, succeeding Suraj Moosun. After obtaining his Higher School Certificate from the Royal College of Port Louis, he moved to London, where he was admitted to Gray's Inn.
