Rivière-Noire: Indian Tourist Victim of a Hit-and-Run Accident
Rivière-Noire: An Indian tourist, aged 57, was struck by a car whose driver fled the scene on the night between Saturday and Sunday in Rivière-Noire. A police investigation has been launched to identify the driver involved.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday on the road to Rivière-Noire, near a nightclub. The tourist, who arrived in Mauritius on Friday for a short vacation, was walking along the road when he was hit by the vehicle.
According to initial reports, the vehicle involved, which was black, could not have its make or license plate identified as it was headed towards Yemen. After hitting the pedestrian, the driver continued on without stopping.
Upon being alerted, the Rivière-Noire police arrived at the scene and found the victim lying on the road, suffering from injuries to his right leg. The man was taken to Dr. Yves Cantin Hospital and then transferred to Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital with the assistance of SAMU services. After receiving the necessary treatment, he was allowed to leave the hospital.
Originally scheduled to stay until December 25, his visit has been cut short due to this accident. The area where the incident occurred is monitored by surveillance cameras. The investigation is ongoing to identify the vehicle involved and locate its driver.
