League Cup: Penalty Shootout Victory and Semi-Final Qualification for Arsenal
Arsenal has secured its place in the semi-finals of the English League Cup by defeating Crystal Palace in a tense penalty shootout, 8-7 (1-1 at the end of regular time) on Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners owe their victory to Maxence Lacroix, the French central defender for Crystal Palace, who had a nightmarish performance: he scored an own goal in the 80th minute that allowed Arsenal to take the lead, and then missed his penalty kick during the shootout just a few minutes later, thus sending Arsenal through to the next round.
Marc Guehi equalized for Palace in the dying moments of regular time (90+5).
