Investigation - Death of Andy Selmour: Hearing of an Inmate Postponed
An inmate suspected of being one of the attackers of Andy Selmour at the Eastern High Security Prison is set to be heard soon. Surveillance footage reportedly showed that Guillaume Jordan was part of the group that assaulted Andy Selmour.
He could not be heard on Tuesday, December 23, because he expressed a desire to have a lawyer present during his interrogation. Authorities will have to wait until he secures legal representation. His relatives will be contacted to help him find an attorney. If this is not possible, he will receive assistance from a court-appointed lawyer.
Guillaume Jordan was incarcerated in the same block, the Kestrel Unit, as Andy Selmour. The altercation on Tuesday, December 9, reportedly broke out multiple times in the Marygold Unit of the Melrose prison.
Correctional Environment: Five Guards Resuming Duties
On another note, five prison guards suspended for suspected involvement in the fatal assault of inmate Cael Permes at La Bastille prison on May 5, 2020, will resume their duties this Wednesday, December 24. Four other colleagues had already returned to work in February 2024. In total, eleven guards from La Bastille prison were suspended following the death of Cael Permes, who was found dead in a cell at Phoenix prison. However, two guards remain barred from performing their duties.
