Teacher Transfers: The GSSTU Remains Vigilant
Despite what is seen as a constructive collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Yugeshwur Kisto, president of the Government Secondary School Teachers' Union (GSSTU), emphasizes the need for vigilance and firmness within his organization regarding the teacher transfers planned for 2026.
The process for transferring secondary school teachers for the academic year 2026, which began in the second week of December, is taking place in an atmosphere of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the GSSTU.
While the Union president, Yugeshwur Kisto, welcomes "the Ministry of Education's commitment and willingness to work alongside us," he reminds that this collaboration does not absolve the Union from its oversight role. "Although we are pleased with this positive approach, the GSSTU will remain firm and vigilant in fulfilling its mandate. We will not waver in our commitment to ensure that every transfer request from our members is evaluated fairly, treated justly, and accepted on legitimate grounds," he stated.
The union thus prioritizes caution in its actions, asserting that the interests of its members will remain paramount. Yugeshwur Kisto highlights that each decision will be scrutinized "relentlessly" to ensure it benefits both the professional well-being of teachers and educational excellence.
In this context, the union encourages its members to be patient until the start of the school year, when the affected teachers will be officially notified.
