Maha Shivaratri 2026: Strict Regulations for Kanwars on Public Roads

In the lead-up to Maha Shivaratri 2026, which will be celebrated on Sunday, February 15, the Ministry of Land Transport has issued guidelines to regulate the presence of kanwars on public roads, based on regulations from 2025. The new measures aim to ensure the safety of pilgrims and road users.

The main provision concerns the dimensions of the structures being transported: they must not exceed three meters in height and two meters in width.
