Increase in Reports: Violence Against Women - 40 Cases Recorded Between December 31 and January 4

The start of 2026 is marked by an alarming surge in violence against women. According to Arianne Navarre-Marie, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, 40 cases were reported between December 31, 2025, and January 4, 2026, through the assistance line 139, which is dedicated to victims.

This festive period, usually associated with celebrations and family gatherings, unfortunately comes with an increase in reports of such violence.
