During a press conference following a 5.4 magnitude earthquake felt in Rodrigues, Chief Commissioner Franceau Grandcourt urged calm. He emphasized that there was no material damage reported after the tremors, which were detected a little over an hour after the earthquake. Additionally, he noted that there was no tsunami alert in effect. Furthermore, the Chief Commissioner advised fishermen not to venture out to sea as a precaution for the time being.
