Earthquake in Rodrigues: The Chief Commissioner Calls for Caution

The Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues, Franceau Grandcourt, has stated that he is closely monitoring the situation following the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the island this afternoon.

In a press conference, he emphasized that this was the first time an earthquake of such magnitude was felt on the island.

He reassured the public by asserting that the likelihood of a tsunami remains very low.

However, Franceau Grandcourt urged caution and advised the population to avoid venturing out to sea.
