A 33-year-old inmate passed away on the evening of Monday, January 5, at the Beau-Bassin central prison under circumstances that remain unclear. The lifeless body of Louis Jeremie Frederick Ditjacques, a resident of Résidence EDC in Grand-Gaube, was discovered around 7:30 PM, lying on his back on his bed. Authorities were alerted and arrived at the scene, where the prison doctor confirmed the death. No apparent signs of violence or injury were noted during the examination.
