Murder of Sreematee Bunghoo in Quinze-Cantons: Davisen Jessen Vayty Confesses
Developments have emerged in the investigation of the murder of 78-year-old Sreematee Bunghoo, which occurred in Quinze-Cantons during the evening of Monday, December 29 to Tuesday, December 30. The suspect, Davisen Vayty, known as Jessen, who has been detained by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), was confronted with several pieces of evidence deemed incriminating by investigators.
During his interrogation led by Superintendent of Police Veekash Seebaruth, assisted by Woman Chief Inspector (WCI) Nauthoo, the suspect, who lives near the victim's home, ultimately confessed. He provided a detailed account of the events on the night of the crime, confirming that he had gone to Sreematee Bunghoo's residence.
According to his statements, his intention was to steal jewelry. However, his plan went awry when the victim, who lived alone, surprised him while he attempted to take her bracelet. To silence her, he allegedly struck her violently in the face, breaking her jaw. The elderly woman was thrown to the ground and did not survive the assault.
An autopsy conducted by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin attributed the death to cranial injuries.
Concerned by not hearing from her on the evening of Tuesday, December 30, the victim's relatives went to her home, where they made the grim discovery.
