Rodrigues: Support for Cracked Houses After Earthquake

Several houses were damaged after a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Rodrigues on Tuesday, January 6. This assessment was made by authorities following a field visit led by Deputy Chief Commissioner Johnson Roussety, accompanied by engineers from the Infrastructure Commission, to the most affected areas of the island.

According to Johnson Roussety, many homes have visible structural damage. He assured that support will be provided to the families affected by this earthquake.

The Deputy Chief Commissioner also announced that experts will be consulted to review the construction standards of buildings in Rodrigues.
