Notice to Authorities: A Water Leak in Grand-Baie Threatens Public Health

An internet user has sent photos showing a water leak that has reportedly persisted for nearly nine years on Sottise Road in Grand-Baie. According to this resident, a main pipe located on the road is damaged, causing a constant flow of water into his yard.

He claims that on multiple occasions, employees from the Central Water Authority (CWA) have visited the site to try to fix the leak, but without success. A supervisor allegedly informed him that the main pipe needed to be bypassed, yet no lasting intervention has been carried out to date.

The resident expresses particular concern about the health implications of this situation. The stagnant water encourages the proliferation of mosquitoes, thereby increasing the risks of diseases such as chikungunya and dengue. He is urgently calling on the relevant authorities to provide a definitive solution as soon as possible, emphasizing that this is a serious public health issue.
