Maha Shivratree and Cavadee: The PM Leads a Working Meeting
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam chaired a working meeting with the ministers involved in organizing the Maha Shivratree and Cavadee pilgrimage. The purpose of this meeting was to assess the progress of preparations at various levels to ensure that these significant religious events take place under the best possible conditions.
The discussions focused on several key aspects, including logistics, security, traffic management, healthcare services, and water supply—essential elements for accommodating the thousands of pilgrims expected.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of effective coordination among the different ministries and relevant authorities to ensure that Maha Shivratree and Cavadee remain moments of reflection within a calm and organized environment, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
