Rising Costs and Modernization: SMEs Prepare for 2026

The year 2025 has proven to be particularly challenging for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which have faced numerous fiscal and regulatory changes. Indeed, nearly 7,000 of them have been directly affected by the lowering of the VAT registration threshold, which has decreased from Rs 6 million to Rs 3 million. Since October 1st, all businesses exceeding this revenue must now register for VAT.
