Agro-industry: Dr. Arvin Boolell Advocates for Strengthened Cooperation Among Institutions

The Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy, and Fisheries, Dr. Arvin Boolell, has called for enhanced cooperation and teamwork among all parastatal organizations and departments under his ministry to ensure the successful implementation of the 2026 Action Plan and to improve efficiency.

He chaired a meeting with the presidents, general directors, and CEOs of parastatal organizations and departments on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Port-Louis City Council. The purpose was to discuss the ministry's action plan for the year 2026.

The Minister of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, and the Minister Delegate for Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy, and Fisheries, Fabrice David, were also present.

Dr. Arvin Boolell emphasized that strengthened collaboration among different departments would be beneficial for farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, and society as a whole. “The heads of the numerous institutions under his ministry must propose at least five projects to implement in accordance with the government program 2025-2029, as announced in the last budget,” he stated.

According to the minister, access to correct and relevant information is a right for all stakeholders in the agro-industry, fishing, and blue economy sectors, adding that this information should be available under one roof.

Dr. Avinash Ramtohul assured that his ministry would provide technical support to successfully carry out the projects identified by the parastatal organizations and departments related to the Ministry of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy, and Fisheries.

Fabrice David mentioned the upcoming Agricultural Conventions taking place at the end of January 2026 and the Ocean Conventions scheduled for February of this year. He highlighted the need to identify innovative flagship projects that are inter-institutional as part of the next budget exercise.
