AGOA Moving Towards 2028: The House of Representatives Passes the Bill Now Heading to the Senate

The United States has taken a new step for the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). On January 12, the House of Representatives passed a bill with a large majority aimed at extending this preferential trade program until December 31, 2028.

Established in 2000, AGOA allows several sub-Saharan African countries to enjoy duty-free access to the U.S. market for certain products, thereby enhancing trade and economic growth.
