Law Practitioners (Disciplinary Proceedings) Act: The constitutionality of a section of this law called into question

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, lawyer Anoop Goodary filed a complaint in the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of Section 16 of the Law Practitioners (Disciplinary Proceedings) Act (LPA), which came into effect last year. He is directing his complaint against the State and the Attorney-General, and has also named the Bar as co-defendants.
