The Chagossian Welfare Fund Awards Scholarships to Outstanding Students
A total of 14 scholarships have been awarded to Chagossian students who achieved excellent results in the National Certificate of Education (NCE) and in the 7th, 8th, 10th, 12th, and 13th grade examinations. The ceremony, organized by the Chagossian Welfare Fund (CWF), took place last week at the Marie Charlesia Alexis Chagossian Community Center in Baie du Tombeau.
This event is part of the ongoing efforts by the Fund to promote the integration and well-being of the Chagossian community in Mauritius. These initiatives include cultural, educational, recreational, and social activities for community members and their children living in Mauritius and Agalega.
Recognizing education as the cornerstone of empowerment, the CWF has established comprehensive scholarship programs to support the children of the community. These scholarships are primarily intended for students who have obtained their primary school completion certificate and the NCE up to the 13th grade.
The scholarship program is structured to accompany students throughout their secondary education, providing continuous support based on their academic results, and offering financial assistance to those wishing to pursue higher studies.
