Port Privatization: The Situation Remains 'Still Unclear', According to Gérard Bertrand

The privatization of the port is still a relevant topic, but the situation remains 'still unclear'. This statement was made by Gérard Bertrand, president of the Joint Negotiating Panel of the Cargo Handling Corporation Ltd (CHCL).

This declaration follows an inter-ministerial committee meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger to review the port development strategy. The meeting took place at the National Assembly.

The union has been invited to submit a document on the issue. However, Gérard Bertrand is firm: the Joint Negotiating Panel will neither accept the privatization of the port nor the construction of a second terminal.

For context, last week, members of the Joint Negotiating Panel of CHCL protested outside the National Assembly. They criticized the fact that unions were not invited to discussions about the future of the port.
