Electric Buses: Charging Scheduled Only After Peak Hours

Electric buses will only be charged after peak hours. This announcement was made by the Minister of Transport, Osman Mahomed, following a high-level meeting with his Seychellois counterpart, Véronique Laporte, who is on an official visit to Mauritius. The meeting took place in Port Louis on Monday, January 26.

According to the Minister, the charging of the buses will occur from 10 PM until the following morning to avoid overloading the Central Electricity Board's network.

Osman Mahomed specified that, given the 26 charging stations available for 105 electric buses, a rotation system will be implemented. This will require dedicated staff to ensure its proper functioning.

The Minister also emphasized that this measure represents a financial opportunity for the Central Electricity Board.
