WhatsApp (Meta) to Face Stricter Rules in the EU

The messaging app WhatsApp, owned by the American group Meta, will be subject to stricter regulations in Europe after it was added to the list of "very large online platforms" on Monday, according to the European Commission. These new obligations will apply only to "WhatsApp Channels," a service that resembles a content broadcasting platform, and not to other aspects of the app.
