Osman Mahomed: "It is a privilege to use the road. If you don't appreciate this privilege, we will take it away"

The Minister of Transport, Osman Mahomed, has made it clear that his ministry and the police will show no mercy to irresponsible drivers. He held a press conference on Monday, January 26, following a working meeting with the National Road Safety Council in Port Louis, which was prompted by recent fatal road accidents. He specified that the new points-based driving license system will come into effect starting Saturday, January 31. He expressed confidence that drivers' attitudes will change accordingly.
