Motion to Dismiss Rejected: Provisional Charge Against Tevin Sithanen Upheld

The District Court of Upper Plaines Wilhems has made its decision. In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, January 27, Senior District Magistrate Shavina Jugnauth rejected the motion to dismiss the provisional charge against Tevin Sithanen, son of the former governor of the Bank of Mauritius (BoM). He is being prosecuted for using a telecommunications service to transmit offensive remarks that could cause harm, in violation of Articles 46 (1)(g) and 47 of the Information and Communication Act.
