Heavy Rain Alert: Schools Remain Open on Thursday, January 29

The Ministry of Education and Human Resources has confirmed that despite the ongoing heavy rain alert, all educational institutions will remain operational on Thursday, January 29, 2026. This includes pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, as well as special educational needs (SEN) institutions, and technical and vocational training centers, including those under the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD) and the Industrial and Technical Education and Training (ITET).

The ministry also urges the public to exercise caution and not to believe in false information circulating on social media.
